"A Day In the Death of Joe Egg concerns Bri and Sheila and their handicapped child (nicknamed Joe Egg) aged 10.  The parents invent conversations and personality traits for the child, even though she seems unable to communicate in any way.  As Bri and Sheila begin to fabricate scenarios, their marriage comes under increasing strain."  --Roundabout press release

Written in 1967 and premiered in Glasgow, Scotland, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg quickly transferred to London's West End and then to Broadway the next year, where it was nominated for and won a number of Tony awards.  Actors Eddie Izzard and Victoria Hamilton starred in a televised version of the play in the UK, directed by Robin Lough, before coming to New York for the Roundabout's 2003 revival; this was Roundabout's second revival of the play.
