Interview with director Max Stafford-Clark by Ted Sod for the Education department, conducted in 2007.  Interview features Stafford-Clark discussing his trip to Rwanda with playwright J.T. Rogers instead of workshopping the play, the post-traumatic shock of Rwanda and speaking with survivors at widow centers, casting the play for the American production, research for the play including book reports from the cast, picked up directing pragmatically - no drama school training, working with director Bill Gaskill, Stafford-Clark's touring company (Out of Joint ) partnership with London theaters, motifs in the play, genocide sites, challenges in directing the play, theaters' ability to take you to another world, influence of  journalism on theater, advise to students, and the origins of the title of the play.
