Biography
Award-winning actress and playwright. Born in southern Italy, her parents emigrated to the United States when she was a small child. She studied English Literature at Cornell University and received her MFA at NYU's Tisch Graduate Acting Program. In the Fall of 1991, she traveled to Moscow and received a certificate of study from the Moscow Art Theater. Awarded a Fox Fellowship, she studied with members of Theatre de Complicite and Philippe Gaulier in London. Antoinette has appeared in multiple guest-starring roles on television and film which include: Team Marco, Deliver Us From Evil, Lost Cat Corona, Delirious, The David Dance, Jesus’ Son, and the award-winning shorts, Paralysis and Lily of the Feast. On TV she has appeared in FBI, The Deuce, Blindspot, Blue Bloods, DONNY!, Killing Kennedy, Taxi Brooklyn, The Sopranos, Guiding Light, One Life To Live and multiple episodes of Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU. Onstage, Antoinette has performed on and off Broadway & at numerous regional theaters. Broadway: Torch Song (2018 revival); A View From The Bridge (Cort Theater) starring Scarlett Johansson & Liev Schreiber. In NYC: Manhattan Theatre Club, The Public Theater, Lincoln Center Inst., Primary Stages, SoHo Playhouse, Cherry Lane, The Flea, Urban Stages and more. Most recently, she has appeared in back to back world premieres: Project Dawn (People’s Light), The Blameless (The Old Globe), A Comedy of Tenors (McCarter & Cleveland Play House), I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti (her award-winning solo performance, in which she originated the role of “Giulia” at Hartford Theatre Works, George St. Playhouse, Asolo Rep & Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park), Two Point OH (59E59 Theaters, *NY Times Critics Pick), Stella and Lou (Merrimack Rep), You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up! (national tour) and Tough Titty! (Williamstown Theatre Festival). Other favorite roles include Mother Augustina in A World Apart (The Flea), Natalia in Electric Baby (Two River Theatre *Top 10 plays of New Jersey), Deborah Harford in Touch of the Poet, opposite Daniel J Travanti (Friendly Fire NYC *NY Times Critics Pick), The Narrator in The Pavilion (Dorset Theatre), Randy in Superior Donuts (Pittsburgh Public), Diane in Little Dog Laughed (Portland Ctr Stage), and as Anna Magnani in the one-woman show, Mamma Roma (Cherry Lane). Antoinette’s critically-acclaimed comedic one-woman show, How To Be A Good Italian Daughter (In Spite of Myself) directed by Ted Sod, ran to sold out audiences at The Cherry Lane Theatre in NYC, after a sold out performance at Ars Nova. And was performed in earlier versions at Urban Stages and the Midtown International Theatre Festival, directed by Jesse Berger and Ludovica Villar-Hauser, respectively. The piece was also chosen for The Culture Project's Women Center Stage Festival, at the Perry Street Theatre and at CenterStage at Fitchburg State College. In Los Angeles, her one-woman show raised money for The Collective’s fundraiser, the west coast alumni group of Tisch’s Graduate Acting Program. She was awarded the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust Grant to further her development as a writer/performer. Antoinette is currently working on another original piece, Village Stories, a collage of characters from her Italian ancestry. Collaborating with the award-winning musician and author, John T. La Barbera, the piece weaves music and storytelling to tell the universal story of how the past informs our present so we can move gracefully into the future.
